OUR STORY

275849117_1387774631660270_5452143035165328722_n.jpg

Formed in 2018 and officially registered in 2020, the Muziris Cyclists’ Club presently has 33 committee members from all walks of life, who monitor and manage all activities of the club.

Muziris was an ancient, but well-flourished port city that was vanquished in massive floods 3000 years ago. The city comprised areas from present day North Parur to Kodungallur. The club name “Muziris” was chosen to pay homage to this ancient city.

There will be senior riders who will be giving tips on good riding and healthy lifestyle to junior riders and beginners. The rides are usually within the range of 50-100 kilometres for beginners and 200+ kilometres or more for enthusiastic riders.

The club believes in bringing more and more people into sports, irrespective of age, and welcomes women participants whole-heartedly. Several women have joined the club, and have regularly participated in the group rides, involving both short and long-distance rides. There are also women-focused group events, where women get together and go for cycle rides together.

The club’s name and motto has been spread through the cycling events that we conducted. It helped us to promote cycling as a fitness regime and brought excellent awareness regarding leading a healthy lifestyle. We had some incredible event partners who joined hands to spread the word:

Port Muziris Marriott | Muziris heritage Project | Cochin Port Trust |
Motor Vehicle Department of Kerala | Joyalukkas | Lions Club |

ChilliOut Cafe | Aster Medcity | Heartcare Foundation

The club, realising its responsibility to the society, has come forward to do its share of charitable activities as well. A couple of examples include home for a destitute in Chendamangalam, North Parur, Kochi and sponsorship for promising cyclists across Kerala.

Muziris Cyclists’ Club has lots of events planned for the future. The club members work hard to promote sports for better living and health, and cycling, as a major means to form friendships. The idea is to ride/run/walk/swim, and lead a better life, because these activities give you the perfect platform to explore your limits.

Tour De Sundays

Long rides planned by the club

Senior riders

The pursuit of happiness takes a different meaning when it is the weekend.

The club grew and grew as we had more passionate members join us. Our club is known for its friendship cum group rides. We plan short (50-100 kms) or long rides. Each ride has a story of its own.

Where there’s a will, there’s a ride

The endurance of every club member increases only when you test their limits. Our club members look forward to long rides. Each ride will be more than 100kms, and often at scenic destinations like Munnar, Ootty, Dhanushkodi, Vagamon etc.

Our superheroes minus the cape

Every entity’s strength lies in its foundation. Our superhero senior riders are our club’s strength. Let’s get to know them

The quest for speed - Our racers

We have some racers in the club who give their best performances for racing. Some of them are Leju KD, Sali Geethanjali, Vishnu Dev and Ramkumar. They train hard and well to bring laurels to the club, and to prove their mettle.
